BOB MARTIN
Sports photographer Bob Martin is a multi-award winning sports photographer specializing in shooting action, graphic , editorial pictures for advertising, corporation and editorial clients. During a career spanning the last thirteen summer and winter Olympics, to elephant polo to horse racing on ice. His work has taken him to the farthest corners of the world, and his photographs have been published in numerous publications including Sports Illustrated, Tie, Newsweek, Life magazine and The New York Times.
We can see from the image to the left that his various pieces of work range from a winter to summer collection. Almost all of his images have used a fast shutter speed. Doing this has allowed him the ability to snap a shot of very high speed moving vehicles and animals such as horses.
This ability gives Martin the power to capture a perfect photograph in a split second, also catching the destruction the sports even brings with it's surroundings. For example in this piece to the left, you can see the destruction of the ice and snow under the bikes studded tires.
Another example of the destruction in different sports photography is the mud, grass and fencing being destroyed by the horses and their riders as they come over a jump. Another short stutter speed has been used to capture the debris coming from the event.
